Salamander

     look!

  oh, look!

where mud ends

   and you begin,

     parted from your

   protective slime and

  startled from slumber,

 plump glistening body,

neon-bright yellow spots

 glowing like a nightlight

  as if to comfort you

  while you safely slept,

 though sensing spring,

  you floated peacefully

    in our tiny pond,

   you barely woke

   only wiggling

   in confusion

   as you were

   carried to

    another

     pool of

      water

      and set

      gently

    afloat

   again:

    dream

     once

       more.
