even though

    it's about to snow again

right now rain

   pattering

and scattered crows

   calling

so I open the window 

   peer past red maple buds swelling

      watch black forms swooping

feel the edge

  of cold spring's beginning

Hawk

a shadow ripples over my shape

but this darkness is not mine

today it is for a mouse
