downy coat adorned
against bitter cold -
fog on the pond

white winter snow
flying distant and free
weightless red fox
__________________
near the red playground
waiting for the yellow bus
tall black crow
__________________
traffic rushes past
branches a blur
unimpressed red cardinal
__________________
sparkling sky
the Big Dipper pours cold down
over warm homes
